Phase I – Initial consultation and assessment
Your appointment will begin with a detailed discussion about your symptoms, including when they started, how they affect daily activities, and what aggravates or eases them. You will also be asked about your general health, medical history, medications, investigations and previous treatments.
Please bring relevant prescriptions, medical reports, scans or test results where appropriate. We will also discuss your lifestyle, occupation, hobbies, sporting activities and personal goals.
Phase II – Physical examination
A comprehensive physical examination will be carried out. Please wear comfortable loose-fitting clothing that provides access to the area being examined, as well as the joints above and below the affected region.
- Shorts allow assessment of the hip, knee and ankle.
- A vest top allows assessment of the neck, shoulder, arm and shoulder blade.
The examination may include posture, range of movement, flexibility, muscle length and strength, balance and coordination, special tests and neurological function.
Phase III – Treatment planning and rehabilitation
Following the assessment, the findings will be discussed with you and a personalised treatment plan will be developed. Treatment may include hands-on therapy, rehabilitation exercises, movement retraining, advice, education and self-management strategies.
You will be actively involved in setting realistic goals and understanding your condition, helping you take an active role in your recovery.
